Sculptor from Grab
Tomislav Topić / Bosnia and Herzegovina / 52' / 2023.
Synopsis

Sculptor Stjepan Skoko was born in Grab, a small village in Herzegovina in 1959. On the border between Dalmatia and Herzegovina, he grows up in a landscape that captivates him with its beauty that he has never escaped from. He graduated from the High School of Applied Arts in Sarajevo, and then from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb in 1986 in the sculpture department. Scattered across Herzegovina and in several places in Croatia, his sculptures are characterized by a high degree of authorial invention, critics say. He is one of our best sculptors. His work was included in the world monograph of sculptures in public space by the British author Amy Dempsey and published by the prestigious publishing company Thames& Hudson from London, where it found itself alongside world-famous sculptors such as Henri Matisse, Antonio Gaudi and many others. He lives and persistently creates new sculptures in his village of Grab near Ljubuški.
