With the help of the leading experts on the early Middle Ages, the film reconstructs the era of King Tomislav, revealing where he may have held court, how far the borders of Tomislav's Croatia may have extended, and what connection Duvanjsko Field has with his coronation. Tomislav's coronation is one of six key scenes that have been brought to life and the epic battle against the Bulgarians, the church council of 925, as well as court rituals at Tomislav's court, his navy, and the daily lives of ordinary people have also been reconstructed. Filmed on locations across Croatia, the film reveals little-known aspects of his reign.
