Film by Danis Tanović won the most awards at 63rd Berlinale
The film “An Episode in the Life of an Iron Picker” by Danis Tanović won two Berlin Bears. These are Jury Grand Prix (Silver Bear) for the best film and Silver Bear for the best actor, which went to Nazif Mujić, who is, by the way, nonprofessional actor that plays himself in the movie. The film also won the special mention of the Ecumenical Jury at the Berlin Film Festival and was bought for distribution in Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria, former Yugoslavia countries, Italy, Great Britain, etc.
The film “An Episode in the Life of an Iron Picker”, which had its world premiere within the main program of Berlinale is fifth feature film of the Oscar winning director Danis Tanović. It was filmed for only nine days of shooting and with the production budget of only 17 000 Euros (with postproduction the film cost only 30 000 Euros). The producers of the film are Amra Bakšić Čamo and Čedomir Kolar from the production house SCCA/pro.ba. The film delighted the audience, the movie critics and the journalists. The jury of this year’s Berlin Film Festival was consisted of: Wong Kar Wai, Susanne Bier, Andreas Dresen, Ellen Kuras, Shirin Neshat, Tim Robbins and Athina Rachel Tsangari.
