1. 1. General provisions

The 27th Mediterranean Film Festival will be held in Široki Brijeg from september 23th to 26th 2026. All the professional and amateur film and video authors of documentary films from the Mediterranean countries can participate in the competition. These countries are, in the alphabetical order: Albania, Algeria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Cyprus, Egypt, France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Lebanon, Libya, Malta, Monaco, Morocco, Montenegro, Palestine, San Marino, Slovenia, Spain, Syria, Tunisia and Turkey. Every author participating can only have one film registered in the official competition. The films that have the right to participate in the competition are short documentaries up to 30 minutes and feature-length documentary films over 30 minutes produced after January 1st 2025.
The films that have the right to participate in the In Focus programme are short documentaries up to 30 minutes produced after January 1st 2025.

1. 2. Technical provisions

The films for the selector must be submitted exclusively by online application on the official website of the festival. The films must contain subtitles in English language. The films for the selection, with a completed registration form, must be sent by July 15th 2026, at the latest.

1. 3. Rights of the organizers

The organizer guarantees that the copies of the films will not be used for commercial purposes. For the screenings of the selected works, the festival will not offer any compensation or screening fees, neither to the authors nor the producers. The organizer reserves the right to use clips from the films for presentation and marketing of the festival on the Internet and television. The organizer reserves the right of screening the films at its own retrospectives.

1. 4. The jury and awards

The professional festival jury consists of three members for short documentary films up to 30 minutes and three members for feature-length documentary films over 30 minutes. The jury for the best cinematography achievement also consists of three members. The jury will award the best film from the short documentary selection. The award is titled BEST SHORT of the 27th MFF. The jury will also award the best film from the feature-length documentary selection. The award is titled GRAND PRIX of the 27th MFF. The award for best cinematography will be presented by the Association of Cinematographers of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ASBH). The award is titled BEST CAMERA of the 27th MFF. All award winners will receive the festival sculpture “MFF Projector.” The festival will also give the sculpture to the winning film selected by the audience.
