The press conference was held today in Široki Brijeg on the occasion of the 15th Mediterranean Film Festival opening – documentary film festival that will last from August 27th to 30th. Tomislav Topić, director of the festival, Robert Bubalo, producer of the festival, Vanja Gavran on the behalf of HT Eronet as the general sponsor, Stjepan Skoko, director of the film ‘Curiosity’, Zdenko Jurilj, director of the film ‘Hospital Incognito’ Lucy Eagleson, director and producer from San Diego and leader of the MFF workshop, Tyler Gunderson, film producer, post production lead at YouTube Space, member of the jury and leader of the MFF workshop and Goran Bogdan, one of the main actors of the film ‘Number 55’ were present at the press conference and talked about the festival, official competition program, off program, workshops and other events within the festival.

“Everything is ready for the 15th Mediterranean Film Festival. The competition program is very powerful and is about the problems of everyday life in the countries of the Mediterranean. The films in the off program have lighter topics and are mostly music documentaries. The first three films that will be screened at the festival are the home authors’ films and we are very proud of the production of these films considering they are the product of MFF. We have managed to keep the quality in terms of production at the level of the previous years”, said the director of the Mediterranean Film Festival Tomislav Topić and wished a warm welcome to the guests and a lot of fun at this year’s Festival.

“We are marking ten years of the sponsorship of the Mediterranean Film Festival this year. This makes us very happy because this festival represents one of the biggest cultural, i.e. film projects in Herzegovina. Year after year MFF justifies our trust with the high quality organization, good production and great films. In the past few years we have been the general sponsor of the festival and our cooperation will continue in the future”, said Vanja Gavran, executive of the Department for corporative communications at HT Eronet.

Robert Bubalo, producer of the festival and one of the directors of the documentary film ‘Lost Button’, also addressed to the media representatives: ‘After five years of filming the ‘Lost Button’ we have finally finished it and it is ready for the world premiere at the opening of this year’s Mediterranean Film Festival. It is a convenient coincidence that we have finished the film in the same year when it is 40 anniversary of the band’s foundation. I believe that the biggest rock band from these parts got a fine birthday present from the film crew. We shot the ’Lost Button’ at locations in Sarajevo, Zagreb, Beograd, Vareš, Budapest, Vienna and London. Goran Bregović, Željko Bebek, Alen Islamović, Zoran Redžić, Milić Vukašinović, Vajta and many other musicians, rock critics and contemporaries take part in the film, because we wanted to reconstruct some of the most important details from the history of this band.”

At this year’s MFF, that will start on Wednesday, August 27th , with the screening of the film ‘Lost Button’, 22 documentary films will be screened in the official part of the program, while the documentaries ‘Curiosity’ by Stjepan Skoko and ‘Hospital Incognito’ by Zdenko Jurilj will be screened within the program ‘Home Author’s Films’. Films ‘Punčke’, ‘Right man for capitalism’, ‘Once Upon a Hub’ and ‘Where are we Now’ will be screened in cooperation with DORF, regional Festival of music documentary film, while the program ‘Special Screenings’ will present short documentary film ‘Autofocus’ by Boris Poljak and feature film ‘Number55’ by Kristijan Milić. Official closing of the 15th Mediterranean Film Festival on Saturday, August 30th, will be marked with the Oscar awarded music documentary ‘Searching for the Sugarman’.
