World fights on the MFF screens
Award-winning documentary 'When the War Comes, directed by Jan Gebert, was screened on the big screen of the open air cinema of the Mediterranean Film Festival, which is being held in Široki Brijeg from August 22 to 25.
Gebert’s film was screened in partnership with HBO Adria, and is about a paramilitary group in Slovakia that is recruiting hundreds of teenagers with the silent approval of the authorities.

Films ‘Life’s Eye’, directed by Wafaa Hussein, ‘See You Tomorrow, God Willing!, directed by Ainara Vera from Spain and Italian documentaries ‘Processes’ directed by Adriana Ferrarese and ‘The Call’ by Enrico Maisto were screened within the competition programme.

The films that were screened within the ‘In Focus’ programme out of competition were ‘Egyptian Misery’ directed by Khaled Khella, ‘Escalero’ directed by Javier Gomis from Spain, ‘The Dot under the Letter Ba’ by Egyptian director Hana El Rakhawi, ‘Scientific Logbook of New York: Why does New York Keep Smoke Underground’, directed by Spanish director Mar González Ruiza de Larramendi, and ‘The Interior City’ directed by the trio Iso Luengo, Jorge Moneo Quintana and Andrea Ballesteros.

The 'In Focus' programme offers a showcase of excellent films, some of which have already achieved success at prestigious film festivals around the world, and some will have premiere screenings in Široki Brijeg. This is a dynamic and diverse selection of seven films that, in the opinion of Zdravko Mustać, the selector of the festival, have already marked the film year or their time is yet to come.
