Kremlin: I enjoy in the same way, playing with Gypsies and with R.E.M., there is no difference
“This is going to be an hour and a half of great fun for Herzegovina audience”, Vlado Kreslin said for Večernji list, the Slovenian folk rock musician, whose journey through the stage over the past 40 years we follow in the film ‘Sing me a Song’ at this year’s Mediterranean Film Festival. The documentary is directed by Miran Zupanič and along with this unusual musician, it also shows his audience, stories - humorous and nostalgic. Kreslin himself is also attending the premiere in Široki Brijeg, on Wednesday at 8:00 pm in the Borak cinema, although he says it's a bit embarrassing to watch a film about himself. *

They introduce you and compare you to many people, including Bob Dylan. How impressing is that for you and how would you introduce yourself - who is Vlado Kreslin?
The comparison with Dylan is of course inappropriate, and I think that I am a singer first, then an author and a musician. A man who was captured by music already in his early years.

What are your impressions of the documentary film about you?
To be honest, it's a bit strange, almost embarrassing at times, to watch a film about yourself. Especially if there are materials recorded for a hundred hours, and the film lasts an hour and a half. You need to understand that it is not your film, but a film made by someone else.

What do you think people find so unusual about you?
I get this question often, and do not know the answer to it nor think about it a lot. Personally I like music and authors in which I find a part of myself, so it's probably the same for other people.

Is this the first time you are visiting Široki Brijeg, do you have any memories of Herzegovina?
I haven't been to Široki Brijeg yet and I can't wait to get to know that area. I have been to Mostar, the city of poets, several times. Once even at a poetry evening with colleagues, Slovenian poets.

What are you currently doing?
I am currently preparing the release of the concert album we recorded with the excellent Slovenian band Teo Collori in Momento Cigano.

You have had collaboration with many, like Arsen, Belan, Stefanovski, Šerbedžija...Is there someone today you would like to work?
I hope that I will play with many different musicians and teams. I can say that I also enjoy playing with Cinkuši and R.E.M, with a brass band and with gypsies. However, maybe it's time for me to do something with Ante Gelo, with whom we have already had some discussions about it.

What kind of music do you listen to, is there some new name that you like?
Lately, I love the silence or the song of Prekmurje’s birds the most. I am a big fan of the excellent Slovenian blues group 'Prismojeni profesori bluesa', with whom I had the opportunity to play a few days ago. What challenges you? Each new song you work on is a big challenge and there are countless possibilities to mess it up and lose it.

An invitation to the audience to the premiere of the film in Herzegovina?
The film ‘Sing me a Song’ is full of music, as much rock as Prekmurje folk music, full of humorous and nostalgic stories. It is not only a film about the main character, but also about his audience, which is very diverse and versatile. I am convinced that this will be an hour and a half of great fun for the audience in Herzegovina, which I am very much looking forward to.
