24 Mediterranean Film Festival – Twenty Documentaries in Competition
Twenty documentary films – ten feature length and ten shorts, selected by the festival selector Zdravko Mustać, are in the competition program of the 24thMediterranean Film Festival.

About 350 films have applied for this year's festival, some of which are having their premiere screening at the big screen in Široki Brijeg, while the program will also present films that have already won awards at major film festivals.

“This year is like no other. A flood of submissions poured onto the selector’s back. 352 works is a record fact. Walking through the pile of Mediterranean celluloid creations was not only quite tiring, but also a big perceptive challenge in all the width of what was offered”, the festival selector pointed out.

In addition to the already well-known ways of narrative art, Mustać said that this year, among the films submitted for our stage, a new type of so-called hybrid documentary came to the fore and became important.

“A new genre, or an old genre in new containers, which tries to combine documentary, feature, experimental, animated ... and all this in a feverish mosaic of views and the author's worldview, has completely taken over the scene”, he said and added that, as always, the selector chose the most convincing and consistent film documents for the competition for awards.

Two three-member international juries are going to decide on the awards for the best feature documentary in the Mediterranean, the Festival “Grand Prix” and the “Best Short” in the short film category.  The third prize is awarded by the festival audience. For the first time, the Mediterranean Film Festival is going to award the ‘Best Camer’ award, which is sponsored by the Association of Cinematographers in Bosnia and Herzegovina (ASBH), whose members are going to chose the best ones.

Here are the twenty films that compete for the jury, audience and ASBH awards.
