24 Mediterranean Film Festival Full Program
Screening of the feature film ‘Stigma’, directed by Zdenko Jurilj, is opening the 24th edition of the Mediterranean Film Festival in Široki Brijeg on Tuesday October 10.

One of the most important film events in B&H and the region is going to screen 20 documentaries in the competition program. Festival selector Zdravko Mustać has selected ten films in the short film category - up to 30 minutes, and ten films in the category of feature documentaries – more than 30 minutes.

In cooperation with Film Centre Sarajevo, the legal successor of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian cinematography archives, the MFF will screen seven films on the second day of the festival. These are the masterpieces of B&H cinematography, which were the audience and jury favourites at festivals around the world at the time they were created.

Films from the ‘Home Authors’ program are going to mark the second day of the festival, so we are watching ‘Walls’ directed by Ivo Čolak and Marko Mikulić and documentary ‘Sculptor from Grab’ about artist Stjepan Skoko, directed by Tomislav Topić.

We are watching the documentaries ‘Speedy’ by Karmen Obrdalj, ‘Coffee Smuggling Routes’ by Mirko Pivčević, ‘The Night of Silver and Gold’ by Zdravko Terkeš and ‘Tomorrow is a New Day’ by Tvrtko Bubalo in the series of short films from this program. The festival is going to screen two animated films on the second day, these are ‘Purpose’ by Tvrtko Karačić and ‘Hope’ by Pero Petrušić.

In addition to the strong documentary program in competition, the ‘In Focus’ program brings the best cinematography works from the Mediterranean countries in the previous year. Nine films will be screened that have already marked the film year or their time is yet to come.

In the Borak cinema hall, on Friday October 13, visitors to the 24th MFF are going to watch the documentary film 'The Silent Drifter', directed by Zdenko Jurilj. This is a story about Virgilije Nevjestić, one of the greatest Croatian painters and graphic artists, who lived and worked in Paris for most of his life. This is the man who, according to art criticism in France, was considered one of their greatest graphic artists of the 20th century, and he called himself a drifter.

The Mediterranean Film Festival is going to screen a feature film for children ‘The Diary of Paulina P’, directed by Neven Hitrec, in the MFF Fora program on the last day of the festival. The movie is based on a very popular book for children, written by Sanja Poljak in which Paulina talks about her friendship, love and family-related problems through comic situations.

The international jury decides on the best works at MFF in two categories – best feature documentary and best short. Besides the six members of the jury that will decide on the winners of the 24 Mediterranean Film Festival on October 13 at 8 pm and award the MFF Grand Prix and the second prize MFF Best Short, the audience decides on the third prize and awards the MFF Audience award. This year, the festival is going to award the 'Best Camera' award, signed by the Association of Cinematographers in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This year's Mediterranean Film Festival is going to be closed on Saturday October 14, with the film by Ivana Guberina – ‘Our Little Boy’ about Šibenik's basketball great man Dražen Petrović. This is a documentary that shows a new side of life, career and time this basketball genius lived in.

Along with an excellent program, what sets this festival apart and makes it different is the pleasant atmosphere and entertainment. We are inviting you to participate in film quizzes, win rich prizes by voting for the best film or simply enjoy films and film parties in Široki Brijeg.

Welcome to the 24 Mediterranean Film Festival!
