''Domestic Authors'' program: Poetic, intimate and experimental films at the MFF
The „Home Authors“ program will once again have a special place at this year's Mediterranean Film Festival,  which is taking place from 7 to 11 October in Široki Brijeg. The audience will have the opportunity to watch three documentary films by local directors on Saturday, the final day of the festival, at the Borak cinema from 6 pm. The films offer different perspectives – from poetic explorations of faith and spirituality to intimate personal struggles, and artistic experimentation.

It is followed by “Labyrinth of the Mind and Body”, directed by Katja Jurić and Lucija Delić, and produced by the Amplituda Association and BONK production. It is a powerful story about a young woman facing her own demons in the form of an eating disorder, finding her path to recovery between Mostar and Zagreb. The film offers an emotional testimony of struggle, hope, and liberation.

The third film in the program, “Andrej Meets a Flower”, directed by Mili Đukić, also comes from the same producer. It is an experimental piece with phantasmagorical elements, exploring the process of identity formation and loss through the growth and erosion of forms, drawing the viewer into a unique artistic world.

The first film on the program is "The Međugorje Breviary", directed by Zdenko Jurilj, produced by Kadar, a poetic short documentary dedicated to the phenomenon of Medjugorje. Through impressive visual metaphors and soundscapes, the film depicts the inner worlds of people who come to Međugorje in search of faith and spiritual fulfilment in a meditative way.

This year’s “Home Authors” program at MFF confirms the importance of documentary film as a medium for personal expression and social reflection, and allows domestic directors to present their authorial work to the festival audience.

26th Mediterranean Film Festival, whose general sponsor is HT Eronet, is taking place from 7 to 11 October 2025 in Široki Brijeg. This year’s competition program brings diverse stories from the Mediterranean and beyond, offering the audience a unique insight into the reality, challenges, and inspirations of contemporary documentary film.
