Culture, film and tourism in the centre of the third day of the 26 Mediterranean Film Festival
The third day of the 26th Mediterranean Film Festival, Thursday, October 9, was marked by film, discussions, and inspiration. In addition to a diverse film program, a forum on tourism was held as part of the ''RomanWinesDanube'' project, implemented by the Office for European Integrations of the Government of West Herzegovina Canton, and financed within INTERREG DANUBE 2021-2027 program.

The forum is dedicated to trends in sustainable tourism, green tourism products, and strategic planning of sustainable tourism in West Herzegovina County.

A discussion on the topic “Culture as an inspiration for tourism” was held after the forum, which connected the art of film, cultural heritage and the development of tourism potentials of our region.

The discussion was moderated by the festival producer Robert Bubalo, and featured participants such as writer Miro Gavran, director and producer Bobby B. Grubić, actor Vinko Kraljević, artist Anita Kontrec, and Loe Lagrange representing the French Institute in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The evening continued in a relaxed atmosphere with art and wine at the Vrba Gallery in Široki Brijeg, where forum participants and guests enjoyed tasting local wines and informal socializing.

The screenings of films from the official competition continued that same evening, as well as a selection of short documentaries as part of the "In Focus" program. The film "Grandpa Guru", a portrait documentary that shows the continuity of the band Kultur Shock in an eclectic style, with a special emphasis on the interesting life, music, and art of their singer and frontman Srđan Gino Jevđević, also attracted great interest from the audience, and the film crew also addressed the audience at the Borak cinema.

“I am glad to see that punk is not dead and that there is a great interest for this and other documentaries at the festival in Široki Brijeg”, said the scriptwriter Sanjin Hasanefendić, who, together with director Silvije Mirošničenko, co-created this inspiring portrait of a musician whose life and work are marked by the search for freedom, identity, and home.

The audience will have the opportunity to see the film “Tomislav, the King”, directed by Dražen Klarić, within the OFF Program on Friday, 10 October at 9 pm, and an exclusive announcement of the film “Conspirators”, directed by Bobby B. Grubić, based on a screenplay by the writer Miro Gavran.

The last festival day brings morning screenings as a part of the MFF Fora program, featuring the animated film "Bumblebee's Summer", directed by Daniel Kušan, and short works created at the "Zelenkapica" children's camp and the "Zabavator" workshop.  Saturday, October 11th, brings a double screening at 5 p.m. - the documentary “TOVA - Greatest Hand, Worst Elbow“, directed by Damir Jelić, dedicated to world table tennis champion Antun Tova Stipančić, and the film “Time of Suffering”, directed by Jozo Patljak, which speaks about tragic events in Bosanska Posavina during the Second World.

Screenings of local authors’ films will take place at Borak Cinema at 6 p.m. that same day. The audience will have the opportunity to see the film “Labyrinth of the Mind and Body”, directed by Katja Jurić and Lucija Delić, followed by "Andrej Meets a Flower", directed by Milij Đukić, and at 7 p.m. "Međugorje Breviary", directed by Zdenko Jurilj, a poetic short documentary dedicated to the phenomenon of Medjugorje.

The international jury in three categories will decide on the best works at MFF – best feature documentary film - MFF Grand Prix, best short film - MFF Best Short, and Best Camera award, signed by the Association of Cinematographers in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the audience will award their prize.

The awards ceremony is taking place on Friday, October 10, and the French documentary "Miyazaki: Spirit of Nature", directed by Léo Favier, is closing the festival on Saturday, 11 October.
