Mediteran Film Festival Video Library Available on the HOME.TV Platform
In collaboration with HT Eronet, 27th Mediterranean Film Festival will offer a selection of documentaries from last year's Mediterranean Film Festival in the video library at the at HOME:TV platform from September 23 to 27.
This year’s selection features six different stories for Montenegro, Israel, Greece, China, France and Spain. Through personal destinies, everyday life, memories, and diverse worldviews, they explore themes concerning humanity, space, and the times in which we live.
Among these films is “Goodlands” by Montenegrin director Vladimir Perović, a cinematic ode to the mountains and the people who live there. The film, a kind of arranged kaleidoscope composed of several stories, miniature vignettes, tends to reach some answers, expressing the uniqueness of Montenegrin rural people's ethos, the principles and values they adhere to, their steadfastness, and the beauty of their place under the stars.
The film “A Whisper I hear”, directed by Aleksa Bujišić, also comes from Montenegro. In the centre of the story is Slavka, who lives in a house beneath the hill and takes care of her mother. Through daily tasks and the silence and space of a former workshop, the film presents an intimate portrait of a woman trying to fill long days and nights, giving special attention to the small sounds and routines of everyday life.
The film “Rachel and Me” directed by Hadar Yoselewitz from Israel, brings the story of an unexpected encounter between two women of different generations. After a romantic breakup Hadar meets Rachel an inspiring 80-year-old jewellery designer and Holocaust survivor. As Rachel shares her wisdom and creativity, she helps Hadar navigate the complexities of life and discover resilience and joy in unexpected connections.
"The Pulse of Chongqing" by Greek director George Georgakopoulos offers a completely different perspective. A portrait of daily life within Chongqing, an exciting metropolis with over 30 million people. A montage of shots from sunrise to sunset that attempts to capture the city’s spirit. People, buildings and the subway become an integral part of the filmic vocabulary.
The French film “Mawtini”, directed by Marianne Barakat, tells a story about childhood and the experience of violence, an experience that leaves a mark, even when it happens far away. Marianne meets Julia in Paris in November 2023. Julia is seven years old; she has a Palestinian mother and films her daily life with a camcorder. Her images blend with Marianne's to tell the story of a childhood that tries to remain carefree under the weight of violence experienced from a distance.
The Video Library also features the film “Dream of Alexandria” directed by Cecilia Orueta and Chema Conesa. A photographer travels to Alexandria in search of the city described by Lawrence Durrell in The Alexandria Quartet. In its streets, she encounters two ghosts: the literary city and the real one, trapped between its past and its present. She discovers that neither in literature nor in real life is there a single truth.
The festival Video Library at HOME:TV platform will be available from September 23 to 27.
